Last night was such a vibe! 💫 Anton and I were just chilling on the stoop, buzzing with excitement as we awaited our guests. Finally, my brother Nick and my cousin’s son, Jimmy (Anton’s second cousin), rolled in from England, ready for a week packed with NYC adventures. Can you believe it’s Jimmy’s first time in the U.S.? I asked him what he wanted to see—do we hit up Coney Island for the Cyclone or check out the Empire State Building? His response? “Do you guys have Dunkin’ Donuts?” 😂 Spoiler alert: we do!
Fun Activities for Preteens in NYC
Planning an exciting itinerary for a 13-year-old in the city is no small feat, but it’s definitely a thrilling challenge! Last night was a blast. We ordered pizza (because when in Brooklyn, right?) and rode bikes and scooters along the river to the Brooklyn Bridge, as the sunset painted the sky a stunning orange and pink. Jimmy, being all British, said, “whilst the sun set,” which honestly just added to the charm. And my brother Nick? He totally nailed the “fun uncle” role by pulling off wheelies and even riding his bike down the stairs! Who else thinks that’s the best way to win over the kids? 🙌
This morning, Jimmy woke up at the crack of dawn—thanks, jet lag! But he was so chill about it, just waiting for us to wake up. Once we finally got moving, we strolled over to grab some bagels and snapped goofy photos that I’m sure will become classic memories down the line. Next on our agenda? Shopping for “trainers” (that’s sneakers for us Americans) and catching a Yankees game. I can’t wait for Toby to return on Friday for an epic family reunion!
Family Memories and Mischief
Speaking of family, I can’t help but reminisce about Jimmy and Anton’s history together. Flashback time! Here they are in Cornwall years ago—just tiny mischief-makers in their own right. Can you even handle the cuteness? From left to right, they were 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8! Fast forward to last summer when Anton turned 12 and Jimmy was 13. These two have been thick as thieves since day one, and we absolutely adore having them around.
