Elegance and glamour at the Cannes Film Festival: A royal affair
The Cannes Film Festival, a prestigious event that attracts the crème de la crème of the film industry, witnessed a spectacular display of elegance and sophistication this year. Among the illustrious attendees were Carolina and Chiara de Bourbon-Two Sicilies, daughters of Prince Charles of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, who graced the red carpet with their regal presence. Their appearance not only highlighted their royal lineage but also set a new standard for elegance at the festival.

Fashion choices that captivate

In adherence to the Cannes Film Festival’s newly established dress codes, which emphasize modesty and sophistication, the royal sisters chose outfits that were both stylish and appropriate. Carolina de Bourbon opted for a stunning strapless white gown, featuring a dramatic train that flowed gracefully behind her. The heart-shaped neckline, accentuated by a contrasting black trim, added a touch of modernity to her classic look. Complementing her ensemble, she adorned herself with exquisite teardrop-shaped diamond earrings and a multi-strand bracelet, all part of Damiani’s Mimosa collection.

Chiara, on the other hand, embraced a vintage Hollywood aesthetic with her black Bardot neckline dress, which featured a voluminous bow that elegantly framed her shoulders. This choice not only paid homage to the glamour of yesteryear but also showcased her unique style. To further enhance her look, Chiara wore a striking choker necklace inspired by Queen Margherita of Italy, a nod to her royal heritage and a tribute to the queen’s legendary jewelry collection.

A night filled with cinematic magic

After their captivating red carpet appearance, the sisters took their seats at the Grand Théâtre Lumière for the festival’s opening ceremony, hosted by the renowned American director Quentin Tarantino. The event was marked by a poignant speech from French actress Juliette Binoche, who honored the contributions of Palestinian photojournalist Fatima Hassouna. The evening continued with the presentation of the honorary Palme d’Or to the legendary Robert De Niro, further solidifying the festival’s reputation as a celebration of cinematic excellence.

As the night unfolded, Carolina and Chiara were also invited to the screening of the film Partir un Jour, directed by Amélie Bonin. The sisters enjoyed a luxurious dinner at La Petite Maison du Palm Beach, a fine dining establishment known for its breathtaking views of the Lerins Islands. The culinary experience, curated by chef Yiannis Kioroglou, featured a delightful array of dishes, including red tuna tartare and a delectable lemon meringue tart, all paired with exquisite wines from Skywalker Vineyards, founded by film director George Lucas.

Legacy and modernity intertwined

The presence of Carolina and Chiara de Bourbon-Two Sicilies at the Cannes Film Festival not only showcased their individual styles but also highlighted the enduring legacy of royal elegance in contemporary settings. Their ability to blend tradition with modern fashion sensibilities reflects a broader trend within royal families, where heritage and contemporary culture coexist harmoniously. As they continue to navigate the world of glamour and cinema, the royal sisters undoubtedly leave an indelible mark on the fabric of modern aristocracy.
