Her love of journalism began when she was 12. His parents took me to school board meetings, which they attended to support students with disabilities. Amanda took notes, questioned board members after meetings, and wrote stories about what happened.
Just a few years later, he made my first investigative report at the age of 15. His parents announced they would be moving our family of eight from New Hampshire to Pennsylvania. Amanda promptly dug up every fact she could find about the area, made arrangements to live with a friend’s family, and presented my findings to my parents. They congratulated her on her efforts, informed her that she had yet to move in with them and her five siblings, and suggested that she channel her energy into journalism.

A few weeks after graduation, Amanda began her first new television job at WTOL11 in Toledo, Ohio. Toledo will always have a special place in her heart because that’s where she met her current husband, Steve. It is also where Amanda officially began her detective career. Through public records, she was able to expose flaws in the state’s school vaccination tracking system and uncover the city of Toledo’s fraudulent food spending.

Amanda also started a weekly ‘Restaurant Report’ segment, along with a market TV station’s first podcast called On Deadline. It continued to hold local leaders accountable through reporting public spending, nursing home violations, costly towing practices, efforts to circumvent transparency laws, and loopholes in the Capitol’s system for reporting sexual harassment.
St. Hilaire left the Harrisburg-based ABC affiliate to pursue a position as an investigative reporter in the Milwaukee area at FOX 6 station. His final day with abc27 will be June 21st. St. Hilaire joined the abc27 news team in 2014.
