Diaz landed his first television journalism job at Miami’s WPLG-TV, where he worked for the station since the early half of the 1970s. He then left the station and got a job at WCBS-TV from the mid 70’s to the early 90’s. It was on WCBS-TV that Diaz was recognized by many and won over 25 local Emmy Awards during his time there. Diaz was recognized thanks to his reports on the Shame on You series.
Diaz then landed a job at ABC News as a reporter for ABC’s 20/20 as a Consumer Investigative Reporter from 1995 to 2003. He won the National Press Club Consumer Journalism Award and the Consumer Federation of America Media Service Award. Diaz then joined WNYW-TV afterwards and the Shame on You show was picked up by the station with Shame Shame Shame. In 2014, he announced that he would be leaving the station indefinitely.
