Review of Romeo & Juliet at the Delacorte Theater
A recent review of the Romeo & Juliet performance at the Delacorte Theater highlighted the unique setting of the play, which has been transported to the U.S./Mexico border. Director Saheem Ali has reimagined the classic tale with a contemporary twist, exploring themes of immigration policy and cultural division. However, the review noted that the play’s traditional narrative struggled to align seamlessly with the modern setting, leaving some audience members scratching their heads.
The Delacorte Theater has long been a beloved venue for theater enthusiasts, offering free performances that bring the community together. Despite the mixed reviews of the current production, the theater remains a cherished institution in New York City.
