From Fashion to Autos: Clutch Revitalizes Halifax Location

In a remarkable transformation, the former East Coast Lifestyle flagship store in Halifax has found new life as Clutch’s latest customer hub. Less than a year after the apparel company closed its doors, Clutch, Canada’s premier online used-car retailer, has revitalized the space to better serve its growing customer base.

The new hub, located in the Bayers Lake Business Park, officially opened its doors on Wednesday, marking another significant step in Clutch’s national expansion. The state-of-the-art facility, which once housed a large retail and office space, warehouse, and outdoor terrace, has been meticulously repurposed to support Clutch’s unique business model.

Enhancing the Digital-First Experience

Clutch’s new Halifax customer hub is more than just a physical location; it’s a strategic asset that complements the company’s digital-first approach. While Clutch was built on the foundation of online car sales, the company has recognized the value of physical locations in providing a seamless customer experience.

“We’ve always had one in Halifax, but it was much smaller,” said Dan Park, Clutch’s CEO. “So, we’re excited to be expanding to a much bigger, nicer, and more centrally-located facility in Halifax to serve our customer base here.”

The 11,000-square-foot facility serves as a logistics and customer service hub, where vehicles undergo safety inspections, detailing, and certification before being delivered to customers or made available for pick-up. The hub is equipped with lifts that allow for full safety inspections and certifications, ensuring that every vehicle meets Clutch’s high retail standards.

Services and Support

Customers visiting the Halifax hub can enjoy a range of services designed to facilitate a smooth car buying or selling experience. The facility offers vehicle pickup and drop-off services, on-site staff to assist with vehicle handoffs, and access to the company’s online inventory through in-store computers. Customers can also receive guidance on listing their vehicles online and obtaining offers based on the vehicle’s value.

“When they come here, we want to make sure that they are safetied and meet our retail standard, which is quite high,” Park said. “This site allows for that. It also serves as a hub for our flatbed trucks to deliver cars directly to customers’ homes.”

A Strategic Expansion

Clutch’s new Halifax customer hub is part of the company’s ongoing expansion across Canada. The opening marks the third new physical location this year, following expansions into British Columbia and Ottawa. The company’s strategic investment in physical locations is a testament to its commitment to providing customers with more choice and flexibility.

“Opening our new Halifax Customer Hub is an exciting milestone as we continue expanding our presence across Canada,” Park said. “We’ve seen how valuable physical locations are in giving customers more choice, whether they want to complete everything online or connect with our team in-person.”

The Halifax hub is designed to support customers completing vehicle transactions through Clutch’s website. The facility offers a welcoming environment where customers can browse the company’s online vehicle inventory, compare vehicles with staff assistance, and receive help listing their own vehicles and obtaining an offer.

The Future of Car Buying

Clutch’s new Halifax customer hub represents the future of car buying in Canada. By combining the convenience of online shopping with the personal touch of in-person support, Clutch is redefining the customer experience. The company’s digital-first business model, coupled with its strategic investment in physical locations, is setting a new standard for the used-car industry.

As Clutch continues to grow and expand its operations, the Halifax customer hub will play a crucial role in serving the company’s customer base in Atlantic Canada. With its state-of-the-art facilities and dedicated staff, the hub is poised to become a key player in the region’s automotive market.
