As I prepare to welcome my baby girl into the world, I reflect on the unforgettable moments associated with labor and delivery. This experience is filled with excitement and anticipation, heightened by each little kick reminding me of the reality ahead. Here, I share some of the moments that make this journey special.

Creating Connections with Siblings

One significant moment I look forward to is introducing my two older children, Ella and Emiliano, to their new sister. This moment evokes deep emotions. I recently came across an insightful Instagram reel that provided excellent tips for this very introduction. Picture this: the baby resting in her bassinet, while her big brother enters the room, and there’s mom, arms wide open for a hug. The image of a family group hug is heartwarming.

Moreover, the parents in the video included photos of the older sibling right in the bassinet. This simple yet thoughtful gesture fosters a sense of love and inclusion from the outset. Who wouldn’t want such a connection?

Unfortunately, Ella and Emiliano did not experience that magical hospital moment since Emiliano spent his first month in the NICU, and visitors under 14 were not permitted. Their initial encounter occurred at home, a cherished memory for me. This time, if circumstances allow, I plan to hang their pictures in the bassinet during my hospital stay to strengthen their bond with their new sister from the start.

The Unsung Heroes: Labor and Delivery Nurses

Another important moment I anticipate is taking a photo with my labor and delivery nurse. Whenever I discuss my birth stories, I feel compelled to praise these remarkable women. They provide essential support during what can be both a sacred and nerve-wracking time.

I vividly remember the incredible nurse who assisted me during Emiliano’s birth. She was my anchor, holding my hand during the epidural process and offering comfort during contractions. Remarkably, she stayed past her shift to witness Emiliano’s arrival and ensure his weight and height were recorded for his baby tag. Her dedication was truly commendable.

I often regret not capturing a photo with her at that time. I felt shy and hesitant to ask. However, I wish I could share a picture of the nurse who supported me through one of the most challenging moments of my life with Emiliano. If I am fortunate to meet another exceptional team of labor and delivery nurses this time, I will certainly request a quick selfie to honor their contributions.

Sharing Experiences

If you have experienced the beautiful chaos of childbirth, I invite you to share the moments that were most meaningful to you. What stood out in your experience? Do you have any tips for others? Let’s engage in a conversation.

Additionally, who would you want in the delivery room with you? What was the first meal you enjoyed post-birth? I am also open to sharing advice, such as ten ways to help new parents navigate those early days.
