The city of Bellingham experienced a significant fire on Monday, raising concerns about safety and property damage. Meanwhile, the community is gearing up for a variety of weekend activities that cater to diverse interests.

The fire, which originated from a wood-burning stove in a detached garage, quickly spread to a neighboring garage and caused substantial damage to the main residence. The Bellingham Fire Department (BFD) responded swiftly to the incident, which occurred at approximately 1:26 p.m. in the 3000 block of Walnut Street.

Firefighting Efforts and Damage Assessment

The BFD’s Engine 1 was the first to arrive at the scene and found the fire had already extended from the detached garage to the main residence and an adjacent detached garage. Firefighters launched an aggressive fire attack successfully bringing the blaze under control and preventing further spread.
